Have you ever wanted your very own star to wish upon, to give one to that special person, or as a more permanent reminder of a lost loved one? You can't buy a star, but now you can adopt a star of your own! Kirkpatrick Planetarium has 4,400 stars available for a one-year renewable adoption.

For your adoption fee, you will receive:

• A map of the heavens showing the actual location of your Kirkpatrick Planetarium star (From a sufficiently dark location, you will be able to see it with the unaided eye!).

• A detailed description of the actual star represented by your Kirkpatrick Planetarium star, including proper name, if any, star designation, spectral type, true distance and other relevant astronomical data.

• A photograph of the sky around your adopted star with the star clearly marked.

• A set of detailed information sheets with important astronomical terms, a list of constellation names and other, fun, star-gazing facts.

• For one year, if the person for whom the star is adopted for (or an immediate family member for a deceased person) attends any program in the Kirkpatrick Planetarium, we'll show you your star in the planetarium sky! Call (405.602.3705) or email (wwyrick@sciencemuseumok.org) with the date you plan to attend.

Tell us your favorite color, favorite animal (many constellations are animals), favorite constellation or the best time of year to see it and we'll pick the best star based on the information you provide. Or if you have a particular star in mind, call us.

A part of your adoption fee may be tax deductible as a donation to a charitable organization, and all donation fees support the education programs of the Kirkpatrick Planetarium.
