SUMMARY:Storm Safety Day
DESCRIPTION:Storm Safety Day aims to help residents better understand the science of severe weather and how to stay prepared. Science Museum Oklahoma is partnering with KOKH TV FOX25 to host Storm Safety Day on March 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. \nThis family friendly program focuses on making weather science easy to understand and engaging for all ages. Throughout the day\, guests can take part in hands on activities that explore the forces behind severe weather\, including electricity\, wind\, and air pressure. The event also features special Science Live shows at 11 a.m.\, 1 p.m.\, and 3 p.m.\, led by FOX25 Chief Meteorologist Jack Gerfen\, who will break down how storms form and why preparedness matters. \nStorm Safety Day will also feature information and activity stations from community partners such as the Mesonet\, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration\, and the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management providing valuable resources on how to stay safe during severe weather. \nAll Storm Safety Day activities are included with general admission to Science Museum Oklahoma. DESCRIPTION:Science Museum Oklahoma is proud to announce the reopening of Mighty Mouth\, one of the museum’s most iconic and beloved exhibitions. The revitalized exhibition was made possible by a generous gift from Delta Dental of Oklahoma and its Foundation and will officially open on Monday\, Feb. 23 with a “floss cutting” at 1 pm. \nOriginally introduced in 1987\, Mighty Mouth has welcomed more than 10 million visitors. It has inspired generations of young scientists to learn about oral health through hands-on exploration. The refreshed Mighty Mouth blends nostalgia with new interactive experiences. Additionally\, it focuses on prevention\, healthy habits and understanding what is happening inside our mouths. \nThe updated Delta Dental Mighty Mouth at Science Museum Oklahoma offers engaging content for all ages. It features a wide range of interactive experiences. For example\, a flossing station\, an interactive smile photo wall\, a mouth washing activity\, a braces station where guests can practice straightening teeth\, and more. Parents must be present.\nSession 1: 10:30am\nSession 2: 2:00pm \nMagnified Masterpieces\nFrom curving lenses to mighty microscopes\, kids experiment with how different tools magnify\, shrink\, and totally transform what our eyes can see. Then capture the hidden details in a microscope micro-drawing. \nSurvival Science – Why Traits Matter\nFrom camouflage to claws\, kids will uncover the amazing features that help animals survive and thrive in their environments as they design a creature built for a specific habitat. They’ll choose traits that help it hunt\, hide\, move\, or defend itself\, then test what happens when the environment suddenly changes. \nPre-registration is encouraged.
