Explore the Wonders of Space During Science Museum Oklahoma's Space Day, May 7-8May 3, 2021
On May 7-8, from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., join Science Museum Oklahoma and blast off into a world of flight, robotics and space exploration! Space Day, one of the museum’s most anticipated annual events, is presented by Allied Arts OKC. This year, the museum is offering not one, but two action-packed days celebrating the science of space. While at the museum, guests can try their hand at controlling a spherical robot across a Martian landscape, launching their own rockets fueled by fizzy tablets and design a space capsule for an “eggstronaut” that (hopefully) can withstand a second-story drop from Science Museum Oklahoma’s own sky crane. These and other special activities will be available along with the museum’s live science shows, digital planetarium shows and hundreds of hands-on exhibits. For the space enthusiast, the museum’s Destination Space exhibit, featuring NASA artifacts and interactive simulators is a must-see. All activities are included with general admission.
“Looking to the evening sky and wondering what is beyond has inspired scientists, explorers, and artists alike,” says Clint Stone, Vice President, Programs for Science Museum Oklahoma. “We are eager to share this excitement with our guests, especially our youngest guests whose travels may one day far exceed those we can imagine. It is through the desire to explore that we can better understand our place in the universe and the history of our world. This drive to push boundaries and our own limits has the ability to not only inspire but also bring humanity closer.”
