HomeSchool Day
August 19, 2026 | 10am – 2pm
HomeSchool Day features hands-on activities and exhibit access designed to support home curriculum, give unique experiences, and create community.
Special admission is $10 per person. Children under 2 are free. Pre-registration is encouraged.
Activities included with HomeSchool Day admission are:
- Oklahoma in Motion: Discover how moving continents, rising mountains, and shifting landscapes transformed Oklahoma over the years. Explore the powerful geologic forces that continue to shape our world today.
- Fossil CSI: Become a paleontology detective by examining fossils and other geologic clues to uncover the plants, animals, and environments that once existed in ancient Oklahoma.
- Buried in Sediment: Not everything becomes a fossil. Layer sediments, bury organisms, and investigate the conditions that help preserve evidence from Earth’s past for scientists to discover years later.
- Ancient Oklahoma: Travel back in time by building maps of Oklahoma during different periods of Earth’s history. Use fossils, landforms, and geologic clues to discover how our state’s landscapes have changed through the ages.
Optional Classes
For an additional $10 per student, covering the cost of supplies, young explorers can dig into the following activities:
- Dino Detectives (Ages 4–7)
Uncover fossils, sort through dinosaur clues, and build prehistoric habitats while discovering how paleontologists study dinosaurs
Session 1: 10 a.m.
Session 2: 2 p.m. - Dino or Not? (Ages 8–12)
Think you know dinosaurs? Put your paleontology skills to the test by comparing prehistoric creatures, examining clues, and discovering what truly makes a dinosaur a dinosaur while exploring the ancient landscapes, oceans, and skies they once called home.

HomeSchool Days at Science Museum Oklahoma
HomeSchool Days showcase the museum as a learning lab for at-home students! Science Museum Oklahoma’s HomeSchool Days are packed with extra hands-on activities, live shows, and a whole lot of curiosity—no textbooks required.
Designed specifically for homeschool families, these events bring science to life with themed experiments, creative challenges, and full access to the museum’s exhibits, planetarium, and Science Live shows. One year it’s all about the weather, the next it could be space, physics, or something unexpected. Either way, you’ll leave with new ideas, new friends, and maybe even a new favorite subject.
If you’re just getting started or have years of homeschooling under your belt, this is your day to explore, connect, and have fun learning together.
