Science Museum Oklahoma is welcoming homeschool families from across the state for a special HomeSchool Day on Thursday, Jan. 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering reduced admission and a hands-on lab experience designed to support at-home learning.
HomeSchool Day is one of two events the museum hosts each year specifically for Oklahoma’s homeschool community. Admission will be just $10 per person as a thank you to homeschool families for their continued support of the museum.
Students will have optional eyeball dissection lab opportunities to build real lab skills while exploring anatomy up close. Participants will learn basic lab procedures, techniques, and safety practices before completing a guided dissection. The lab is available for an additional $10 per student to cover supply costs, with limited availability and advance registration required. The minimum age to participate is seven, and a parent must be present. Two lab sessions will be offered at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
“We are so grateful for the homeschool families who choose Science Museum Oklahoma as a learning partner throughout the year,” said Sherry Marshall, John E. Kirkpatrick President and CEO of Science Museum Oklahoma. “HomeSchool Day is our way of saying thank you while also opening the door to experiences like hands-on lab work that can be difficult to replicate at home. These moments help students build confidence, curiosity, and real-world science skills.”
In addition to the dissection lab, HomeSchool Day includes a couple of hands-on activities designed to complement home curriculum and spark curiosity. Students can explore magnification through microscopes while creating detailed micro drawings, or dive into life science by designing animals with traits suited for specific environments in a life science activity.
Homeschool families will also have full access to the museum throughout the day, along with opportunities to connect with other homeschool families and explore educational resources.
Advance registration is encouraged.
