Science Museum Oklahoma will host its second smART Talks program on Thurs., Sept. 10, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The free public program will feature artist Eric Dyer who is recognized as the modern master of the zoetrope. The program compliments Spin! The Art of the Modern Zoetrope, which opened in the museum’s smART Space galleries on Aug. 1.

Designed to highlight the vital connection between art and science, smART Talks brings together innovators and artists whose creative practices are grounded in scientific thinking. During the lecture, Dyer will discuss his artistic process and how he came to work in the historical artform of zoetropes. The presentation will conclude with an audience question and answer session and a look at the exhibition.

Dyer’s work is currently featured in Spin! The Art of the Modern Zoetrope, giving guests the opportunity to gain deeper insights by hearing directly from one of the eight artists behind the exhibition.

The smART Talks series is made possible by funding from the Oklahoma Arts Council, which receives support from the State of Oklahoma and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The smART Talks series reinforces the museum’s commitment to STEAM education by celebrating the “A” in STEAM and demonstrating how artistic thinking strengthens problem solving, exploration, and discovery across disciplines. This project was funded in part by the Oklahoma Arts Council, which receives support from the State of Oklahoma and the National Endowment for the Arts.
