Science Museum Oklahoma invites adults to step into a mysterious and sometimes dark world where fairytales, folklore, and science collide during SMO21+: Once Upon a Time on Friday, Oct. 23, 2026, from 7pm – 10pm.

The after-hours event gives guests ages 21 and older to explore the museum through storybook-inspired night of hands-on activities, themed experiences, and child-free exploration. Inspired by fairytales with a hint of darkness, SMO21: Once Upon a Time guests are encouraged to dress the part, grab a cocktail, and play like a kid again.

“Every good story has a little bit of wonder and a little bit of mystery,” said Sherry Marshall, John E. Kirkpatrick President and CEO of Science Museum Oklahoma. “This SMO21+ is an opportunity for adults to step into the stories they know and love while also experiencing science, creativity, and curiosity.”

In addition to the 500+ exhibits at the museum, themed activities such as book binding, hair strength tests, special planetarium shows, and even do it yourself fair wings are available throughout the night.

Tickets for SMO21+: Once Upon a Time start at $35 for general admission. Guests looking to get a head start on the festivities can upgrade to VIP admission, which includes early entry at 6:30 p.m., a complimentary signature cocktail, and discounted drinks throughout the evening. Advance purchase is recommended as previous SMO21+ events have sold out.
