After 12 years, Science Museum Oklahoma’s first rendition of Power Play is racing to retirement on Sept. 7, to make room for something out-of-this-world.

The well-loved running track, climbing wall, tug-of-war, jump challenge, and overhead climber will soon leave the second floor of the museum to make room for an even bigger addition to the current Destination Space gallery and the Love’s Planetarium.

In anticipation of this retirement, the museum added an additional Power Play exhibition in 2024 that features a basketball jump, a bike simulator, a human hamster wheel, and a jump challenge to keep bodies and minds moving.

“The anticipation is building as we prepare for what’s next in the space between Destination Space and the Love’s Planetarium,” said Allen Voyles, Vice President of Exhibits and Operations. “As we retire the running track and other activities in the area, we know rich memories will be built in what is coming behind it.”

Guests are encouraged to run the track for the last time from now until Sept. 7. The activities set to retire are a part of museum general admission.
