Science Museum Oklahoma is the place for scouts to explore the world of science! The museum’s special Scouts-only events include public and private virtual badge classes and private in-person badge classes.

CUB SCOUT LIVE VIRTUAL BADGE CLASSES

Cost and Registration

Public virtual classes fill on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre-registration and pre-payment is required to hold your Cub Scout's space. Private virtual classes are also available through advanced booking for groups of 3 or more Cub Scouts. All live virtual badge classes cost $10 per scout, plus the cost of materials which each scout will be responsible for providing. Supply lists will be sent via email, to the email address provided, 7 days prior to the scheduled class date, along with all necessary links and information on how to log into the class.

Badge Requirements

SMO museum educators strive to meet as many badge requirements as possible during the allotted class time. Certificates with the covered requirements will be distributed to each student.

CUB SCOUT PRIVATE IN-PERSON CLASSES

Beginning January 1, private, in-person classes are available for Cub Scout troops of 5-15 participants and 2 chaperones. These classes are $15/ Cub Scout.

SMO museum educators strive to meet as many badge requirements as possible during the allotted class time. Certificates with the covered requirements will be distributed to each student.

Parents, Guardians, and Troop Leaders

For the health and safety of all Cub Scouts and museum educators, only 2 adult chaperones per class may remain with groups during in-person badge classes. Adults attending a badge class with a Cub Scout will not be charged general admission to attend the class; however, adults and Cub Scouts enjoying the museum after the class will be required to pay general admission.

Safety is our top priority, rigorous sanitation protocols and social distancing policies are followed. In keeping with Museum policy, Cub Scouts, chaperones, and staff must wear masks properly during their entire visit. For more information about the Museum’s mask policy, click here.

Bears Forensics Badge

Become a fearless forensic investigator and discover the science of crime-solving! Figure out fingerprinting, crack into chromatography, and make an impression as we learn why every crime scene tells a story and how real detectives read the clues like a book.

Bears Super Science Badge

Explore electricity, dive into density, and take a peek at polarity as we explore the science in our everyday lives. We’ll do some hair-raising static experiments and even learn how to make art with household shaving cream!

Webelos Adventures in Science Badge

Come investigate physics, chemistry, electricity and more in this fascinating exploration of multiple sciences. We’ll blast off with rockets, spin with centripetal force, and concoct some toothpaste for elephants in this can’t-miss class!

SCOUTS BSA LIVE VIRTUAL BADGE CLASSES

Insect Study Badge

Delve into the differences between pests and pollinators in this exciting exploration into the lives and science of insects! We’ll build a bug scrapbook and learn how these creatures impact our lives and the world around us.

Weather Badge

Get ready to be blown away by the science of meteorology. We’ll build our very own anemometers, practice weather safety, and construct cloud viewers, all while learning what causes weather, whether we like it or not!
