COVID 19 and Safe, Fun Exploration

Ready to Learn and Play?

We Are!

With extensive safety measures in place there's never been a better time to explore SMO! With almost 9 acres of social distancing space, gallons of hand sanitizer and staff that take your family's health as seriously as their own, we're ready to help you escape into a world of scientific exploration and play. Here's what we've done to make sure you can leave your worries at the door!

Online Ticketing

Advance Ticketing = No Waiting

  • Advance tickets are recommended for everyone – members and nonmembers – this way you won't be waiting in line and we can start social distancing right at the front door!
  • Why buy online? Daily capacity is limited to allow for substantial social distancing. We have 385,000 sq. ft. of space, and if you’ve ever been to SMO on a quiet day, you know just how much room we have to spread out!
  • Please choose your date carefully – tickets are nonrefundable and can’t be transferred to another date.
  • Members can still log into their account to access free tickets.
  • Guests using special passes or needing other assistance may call the museum’s Guest Relations team at (405) 602-3760 to reserve advance tickets.

Limited Capacity

You're a VIP

You've always been a Very Important Person in our eyes, but the SMO experience just got even more special! We're limiting capacity to allow for VERY generous social distancing. We have over 8 acres to spread out and explore which means you and your family benefit from personalized attention from our amazing team members. It's like having your very own science museum!

Masks

Change to the museum's mask policy

to align with CDC guidelines, we strongly recommend vaccinated guests wear masks while in the museum. We do require that unvaccinated guests ages 13+ wear masks while inside the museum.

Science Museum Oklahoma will continue to follow the scientifically-based advice of scientists, epidemiologists and medical professionals in our safety policies. As we wait in anticipation for the day that our guests of all ages can be vaccinated, we will still strongly encourage all guests, regardless of vaccination status, to wear masks while in the museum.

Masks may be purchased at the Box Office or Science Shop ranging from $1 - $10.

For those who might need an alternative, a limited number of complimentary face shields of varying designs are available for check out. Those requesting a medical waiver or wishing to borrow a face shield may submit your request here.

  • Our building is outfitted with a Whole Building Air Purification System provided by PlasmaAir. This cutting-edge system is effective at killing airborne viruses.
  • Our staff continuously clean restrooms, exhibits, high-touch areas, and dining areas throughout the day, enhancing our already stringent cleaning standards.
  • All of our staff are required to wear masks at all times and will have their temperature checked when reporting to work. Staff experiencing any sign of illness are not be allowed to report to work.
  • If you’ve been to the museum, you likely know we had hand sanitizing stations all over the place – we’ve added even more!
  • Our exhibits team built dozens of stations for pop-up disinfecting wipes – those have been installed throughout the museum for you to access any time you might need one.
  • Some areas will close briefly throughout the day for sanitizing and some areas and exhibits will be temporarily unavailable in an abundance of caution.
