Oklahoma City metro residents with an interest in cave exploration can get a free, hands-on experience with the hobby from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, when CaveSim returns to Science Museum Oklahoma.
A car take-apart, blacksmithing, robotics, carpentry, weaving, and more than 50 additional activities will come to Science Museum Oklahoma from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 30 as part of the museum’s inaugural Tinkerfest. Admission to the museum and all Tinkerfest activities is free thanks to the event’s presenting sponsor, Oklahoma EPSCoR.
Science Museum Oklahoma will host a series of film screenings and expert lectures this fall as part of “Ray Harryhausen – Mythical Menagerie," including a first-of-its-kind appearance by Vanessa Harryhausen, the stop-motion animation legend's daughter, and Connor Heaney, collections manager for The Ray and Diana Harryhausen Foundation. The film and lecture series will include “Jason and the Argonauts” at 7 p.m. Sept. 15, “Clash of the Titans” at 7 p.m. Oct. 20, and “The 7th Voyage of Sinbad” at 7 p.m. Dec. 2.
Mythical monsters, skeleton warriors and Greek gods will invade Science Museum Oklahoma’s smART Space art galleries in July as the museum unveils “Ray Harryhausen – Mythical Menagerie,” a comprehensive exhibition of the original models, prototypes, bronzes, sketches and storyboards of the fantasy films of stop-motion animation pioneer Ray Harryhausen.
Oklahoma City metro-area families staying close to home this Memorial Day weekend will find something for everyone at Science Museum Oklahoma. The museum located at 2020 Remington Place in Oklahoma City will be open with regular hours throughout the weekend, including on Memorial Day.
